I was reading Big Brother will be able to watch everything on Anja’s blog this evening. It reminded me of the thoughts I have been having about the level of security we are going through these days.

My question is: at what point will we no longer have any personal information to use in security tests?

I phoned up telephone banking the other day and was asked for the date of birth that I had provided. I laughed and said “as opposed to my real birthday” and of course the dude had zero sense of humor… He informed me that people were no longer using their real date of birth for security.

The security question of mothers maiden name – how easy is it to find that information? How easy is it to find out a date of birth? Address? Phone number? The more security we give – the more we open our selves up to fraud.

How will this end?
